PART TIME MUSIC INSTRUCTOR 

Job Description:

Rainbow Songs Foundation is currently seeking part-time Music Instructors.

The position of Music Instructor involves leading groups of up to 15 preschool children and their parents/caregivers in singing and other musical activities.  All classes are held in person.

Instructors follow the Rainbow Songs Foundation program, but are encouraged to bring their own ideas and personality to the curriculum. Applicants should be outgoing, animated and comfortable working with children and their parents or caregivers. A strong clear singing voice and a high level of musical competency, particularly with the guitar, is expected of all applicants.

About Rainbow Songs Foundation:

Now in its 15th year, Rainbow Songs Foundation provides high-quality, interactive music programs free of cost to marginalized families with children using shelter and refugee services in the Greater Toronto Area.

Remuneration:

On-the-job training pays $30 per hour for time in the classroom.  Music class shadowing will be compensated at a higher rate.   Classroom training and Music class shadowing is typically 8-15 weeks.  Post-training, experienced instructors can make $100+ per class. The number of music classes taught per week usually ranges from one to four and are typically held in the evening.

Rainbow Songs Foundation encourages its staff to pursue continuing education, and will offer opportunities for this development (both internal and external) throughout your tenure with us.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate should possess:

  • Excellent musical skills

  • Strong, clear singing voice

  • Good guitar skills

  • Outgoing and energetic personality

  • Excellent manner with children

  • Experience teaching music

  • Experience with infants and young children

  • Experience with ESL, sign language or working with vulnerable populations is an asset

  • Post-secondary musical training is an asset

  • ECE, Orff, or Kodaly training is an asset

  • Ability to play multiple instruments is an asset
