Great to be Back!

It was a great time being back with our music circle at Robertson House. Some excited kids I met during previous sessions welcomed me, very excited that I was back and to have fun with our singalong.

Highlights of the class were the high energy and excitement. We sang classics like Wheels on the Bus and did lots of actions. Our movement songs was Zoom Zoom Zoom, and it was a blast (off!) getting ready and putting our astronaut suits and helmets on. Jamming to Baby Beluga was also a memorable moment.

Drum Circle

This is such a great group. The participants are so musical and excited about the class. We started the class introducing ourselves, playing our own drum beat as we sang our name to the group.

We then had a drum circle in which everybody had a chance to lead the group with their own beat. We sang some chants in Portuguese and played our percussive instruments.

To end on a high note, we had a dance party and got to share our dance moves with the whole group.

Celebrating the End of the Session!

It was time to wrap up the session at Robertson House this week. We sang our favourites and had a blast on our last class of Spring 2023.

We did some hopping with Sleeping Bunnies, went on a journey with Wheels on the Bus and jammed to I’m in the Mood for Music. At the end of the class, we handed out some gifts and the kids loved choosing their books and instruments.

Astronauts, Blast Off!

Upon arrival for our music class today, I was welcomed by an excited group of kids who hugged me and promptly raised their hands when I asked “who’s ready for music?”. They were listening to Zoom Zoom and I had to make sure to include it on the set list!

They requested songs and we had a blast with Sleeping Bunnies and other requests. As it was a rainy day, we also sang Trees Need the Sun, in which we list all the things that help trees grow big, like the rain, the sun and the earth - and Thunder Pounding.

We ended on a high note with Zoom Zoom as our movement song and Twinkle Twinkle for the parachute time!

Energy and Excitement!

An active and engaged group of 11 participants filled the room with joy on our music session this week at Robertson House. Looking forward to the jam and asking about the instruments bag from the beginning of class, they all had lots of fun as we danced around the room and sang together.

As expected, the jam was a huge success with The Lion Sleeps Tonight. Two Little Black Birds was also a highlight as we got silly together with the birds in the song and their funny names and actions.

Singing About Love!

In our music class this week we learned about how important it is to keep love in mind, to share it, and to act with love in everything we do.

As usual, the kids were super excited for music class; we had a few new participants as well. One of the highlights of the class was the song Love Grows. We learned some sign language with the song and had a conversation about love itself.

Johnny and His Multiple Hammers

We had so much fun in our music class this week. Some new kids showed up for the first time and all participants were super excited to sing and share music even before the class started.

There were lots of movement songs on the setlist. We helped Johnny with the super fun Johnny Works With Hammers song and the kids loved to find all of the “hammers” to work with.

We Are Happy And We Know It!

Our five participants were very excited this week. Before our class started they said “Hi Zeca,” probably about 20 times between them. Even before I was ready to start, they were already sitting in a circle waiting for the fun to start.

We did lots of movement improvising actions for If You’re Happy and You Know It. A highlight was our jam to Bob Marley’s classic Three Little Birds.
